"He Plays the Violin" - 1776

Context: Benjamin Franklin and John Adams come by Thomas Jefferson’s house to check his progress on writing the Declaration of Independence. The pair encounters Martha Jefferson awake and talk to her while Jefferson is still asleep. During the conversation, the pair ask Martha what Jefferson did to woo her. Martha starts singing to explain that, making the point that it is not one of his other accomplishments or talents that attracted her.
